#IAmAlchemy: Heather Rindels | Professional Fundraiser + Animal Rights Activist

Meet my dear friend, Heather Rindels. I met Heather in the early 90's when we both worked in the Office of Philanthropy at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit. She's been a constant presence throughout the past two decades, offering guidance and support of myriad personal and professional adventures.

Early on, she was my supervisor, but over time has grown to become an advisor, mentor, and all around Boss Lady advocate. She's also godmother to SoMad, and her generosity of Spirit knows no bounds. As you'll see below, she's definitely someone you want on your team - she's got the biggest heart and I know you'll love her, as much as I do!

NAME AND VOCATION:  Heather Rindels, Professional Fundraiser and Animal Rights Activist

SHARE YOUR STORY:  I just passed a milestone - turning 50!  With age comes the wonderful gift of genuine reflection.  Thinking about my roots, my childhood and really understanding how it all made me who I am.  I am a midwestern girl, born and raised in Minnesota, Iowa and Ohio who has survived two significant #METOO moments.  As a result, I don't think I really understood myself until I became a mom which made me reflect and dig deep.  Every day I work hard to improve the lives of vulnerable animals and children.  Being with animals is very therapeutic for me - if I could move to a farm and have hundreds of animals I would be in heaven.

I am a cancer survivor (12 years) and am thankful for my life, my family and my animals.  I admire my daughter, Lucy (11) who is such a hard worker - I see kindness and compassion in her that warms my heart.  Because of Lucy, I discovered the Rudolf Steiner School of Ann Arbor and Waldorf education which has also changed my life.  It's the most positive environment I've ever known - so thankful Lucy is surrounded by love and purpose every day.

I've recently started caring for feral cats in my neighborhood.  I'm working to get them all spay/neutered.  I am not a cat person but I have to admit I love these cats!
